So… did Present David just give Future Josh an unhelpful answer knowing that he had already given Future Josh a more useful one in his past and Future Josh's future, or did Future Josh's trip into one year in the past cause a new timeline to happen, and Past David just had a better recollection of the specifics of that particular soda and when it went out of circulation?

It's probably best not to think to hard about it.
