One thing I rather liked about the third Blue Beetle was that when he became a superhero, he told his family and closest friends, like, as soon as he could muster up the courage to admit to such a thing. It made the series differ a little from the traditional superhero story in which those closest to the superhero are not told of said superheroism, at least, not until far down the line.
Admittedly, it took Jaime Reyes a bit over a year to admit it to his parents, but that was more because almost immediately after he became a superhero, he got hurtled forward in time a year by some satelite mishap or some such, but to Jaime it was only a few days.
But anyway, Joe isn't as cool as Blue Beetle, and his bros only found out the truth by accident. >_>
