Why should I do a favor for you?

The professor is based on several people - mainly, those that think everyone else is beneath themselves.  More recently, any type of instructor that belittles more than they instruct.  I actually had a high school teacher that said the line about "a well is a deep hole in the ground."  He had quite the reputation.  He reminded me of Prof. Kingsfield from "The Paper Chase"
