I was never much of a beer drinker myself, but I did enjoy alcohol and parties. But it always amused me how people could describe the previous night's antics in horrid detail, say they hated every second of it, and then go out and do the exact same thing the following weekend. So I wasn't trying to make a prudish "don't drink" point here, I was just highlighting the contradiction between people wanting to have fun and what ended up happening to them.
