9-17 Walking On Thin Ice

Tan was pretty weak back in Chapter 5, the lack of a hoard, combined with the residual effects of the time freezing magic meant Cian used a pretty small amount of energy when he froze her tongue. Here he's used a much larger amount, and it still didn't have much effect.
While he can absorb energy, there are limits to how much he can store, hence the need to replenish. Coincidently, smashing the capsules isn't just for dramatic effect. Absorbing individually would take time, and when he hit his limit that'd be it. By doing this, he's basically forcing himself to take in more than he can theoretically hold.
It's pretty much his last resort, so let's see if the gambit pays off next time!
