Due to the mixing of colors in their offspring, earlier generations of dragons usually try to find mates that are around their own color (a green and a green dragon, for instance), but the more recent generations would marry whomever. Despite the change in the newer generation, one might expect a dragon's spouse to be around the same color. Or at least close to it. Such as blue and green or yellow and green. That is why Batdragon is suspicious of Sam, because Rachel is (of course) green and Sam (of course) is red. Kind of like how most humans might assume a white guy would be married to a white woman, even though most of us know that might not be the case, it's still something we might expect. But I suspect he'd be suspicious either way.

Also, if you play World of Warcraft on the Wildhammer server, I'm on there as Dyonus (named after the green droid from my other comic, Jix). I'm a blood elf hunter (a blood elf that IS a hunter, not a hunter of blood elf) and my pet is a dragonhawk. I named her Rachel. She's really awesome. (Named her after this Rachel, obviously.)
