Couple of things to mention:

This arc is VERY important. It's only about 13 strips long, but several things change because of this arc. The only thing that I will tell you now is that this is the move to the human city of Chicago. How it's done…well, we'll see.

You know…I never really went into what Doc Croc (you remember him, right?) and Sam do. Doctor McCrockagan is (as he mentions) a geologist who works for the geothermal plant. Sam also works there, but he's a technician, not a geologist. (Hence the fact that he is not Dr. Parrity.) He has a bachelor's degree in computer science and all that. Actually, so does Rachel as she used to work for the same Geothermal plant Sam did in New York.

The two of them could work at practically any programming company or anything else dealing with computers, but they like working for the plants.

This is where Jonas's computer knowledge and ability comes from.
