The whole "spoiler alert" thing being applied to time travel is a reference to Doctor Who. There's a character named River Song who is friends with The Doctor and she keeps meeting him throughout his travels, but at different points in their lives.
So his first meeting with her wasn't her first meeting with him. She had met him previous times before.
And so when he'd ask a question, she'd warn him that there were spoilers.
