I mean, it is possible. She was teaching the quadrupeds English before and could've gotten the inspiration there.
That was the book I chose for the adaption because it was the easiest plot for me to come up with for a movie within a comic and because this is an indie movie (as Erin will find out). I think most of her other books would need CGI and a bigger budget.
Also, there may be some parallels between the stories if you catch my drift.
This isn't being filmed in Hollywood, but rather a dragon studio built in Chicago after they came up to the surface.
