Erin knows you're there. Erin knows you're watching. *Ahem!* Anyway…
There's nothing gratuitous about this (though…this is as much as we're going to see…still trying to keep this comic PG-13), this does serve a purpose to the story.
Most sets, of course, have only three walls. Either this room is pushed up against a wall, covered on its fourth side (by another set, green screen, or something else), or has a removable fourth wall. That other fourth wall can be removed by crew for filming through the opening. (It can also be removed by smartass dragons.)
