Rmmcool is very close to the answer I was thinking of! Now, I remember in the actual story a boy had been selling pastries, he put his proceeds at the bottom of his bag of pastries. Several suspects were rounded up and the judge asked each to toss a coin in a basin of water. That makes for a better story, but I remembered too late.
However, I do recall another little parable that I might be a bit better. Let me know if I should let this prince get another try!
