This is a bonus story which was included in the Free Special.

Long story short, this is the first short story I wrote featuring Jerrik and Tahni. At the time, I thought their adventures would be a series of unconnected single-issue comics. I thought they would be one of many characters we would meet in the Civilized Lands. I did the pencil work on this chapter as a proof of concept, to see if I could render them credibly. But as the overall story grew, I realized I had no place for this particular story in the overall plot. So, it sat around for nearly ten years. In 2020, I finally inked the art and edited the prose.

The art here reflects some stylistic changes I have made moving between volume 1 and volume 2. I switched from SketchClub to ProCreate. I switched from a standard stylus to an Apple Pencil, so now I have much more expression in my line work. I stopped using the cross-hatch plugin which I have probably overused up to this point in favor of allowing some gray in the pictures. I also switched from InDesign to Comic Life as my layout software of choice. InDesign is great software, but Comic Life does comic layout better than anything else I've found.

And it's fitting that this story is starting at the end of October, because it's a bit of a ghost story.
