Art is great - humor is wacky and wry.  This could be a Newspaper comic easily.
 
That the Croc-man never speaks, that the humor is everyone else around him, how they deal with him, talk with him - it's sheer genius!
 
The gags in cases are more "mature" as in cultivated, or sophisticated. But you can laugh just by looking.
