This is an Aztec god of water that I found while randomly looking for interesting things to draw. I copied the image in between phone calls at work using a no 2 pencil on photocopy paper. It is about two and half inches tall, one and third inches wide. It is really teeny tiny.
But I love it. I'm just so proud of being able to draw something so full of its original flavor.
The original was never inked. Although I am great at the ballboint pen, I often find myself with smudges I have to clean up and I get frustrated. That and the lines never look dark enough.
With the help of a friend I figured out how to 'ink' using a drawing program and I got the end result. This is my third try at getting him to look decent. I had to fiddle a lot with the threshold size and the feathering but so far, I like the end product.
I'll have to keep practicing so I can start uploading a little more complex doodles and maybe, hopefully, pick up on Lesster of Two Evils and Green Flamingoes again. Part of the reason I stopped is because the line work always came out so shoddily when trying to ink with the tablet or darken it using filters.
