Due East: The Undiscovered Filler (Star Trek Parody)

I only had inspiration for this on Friday afternoon and believe it or not, I finished it late Saturday night/very early Sunday. I had been waiting for an idea since Monday but I feel like it was worth the wait! I am a ridiculous Star Trek junkie, I admit, but I also have a deep love of parodies. At the same time, after I came up with the main idea, I realized I didn't want to completely leave Due East out of its own comic.

So, of all the Due East characters, Lindsay Steury seemed the perfect choice to be an obsessive Star Trek fan (to the point of getting her picture taken with Jonathan Frakes - Cmdr./Cpt. William T. Riker from The Next Generation (TNG) then having him autograph it). I threw all kinds of in-jokes (not all of them from Star Trek, either) into background elements of the page, which was a blast for me!

I also enjoy the challenge of drawing real people from pictures (thank you, Google Images). Brent Spiner (Cmdr. Data/Lore of TNG) was the most difficult, followed by Kate Mulgrew (Cpt. Kathryn Janeway of Voyager) and Avery Brooks (Cpt. Benjamin Sisko of Deep Space Nine). Scott Bakula (Cpt. Jonathan Archer of Enterprise) was the easiest, followed by William Shatner (Cpt. James T. Kirk of The Original Series) and Patrick Stewart (Cpt. Jean-Luc Picard of TNG).

Friday, hopefully, back to our regular comic. I am getting tired of doing fillers, even though they're fun!
