Okay, time for acknowledgments and credits for this fun and funky filler page. First of all, this is "off the record" as far as the official storylines for the following comics…Due East, Used Books, Wolf and Aurora of the High Seas…are concerned.
I got permission from the authors to use their characters for cameos. This included Zoe and David from Wolf, Tim from Used Books, Aurora from Aurora of the High Seas and Skull Girl and Armageddon from Super Temps. In fact, the author/artist of Super Temps even doctored his original frames to make them look "projected" for the movie and emailed them to me. And Tantz Aerine helped me tweak Zoe and David's dialogue.
Oh, and I can't forget Hyptosis of The Realms of Aegis! He helped me come up with "Snakes On A Double Decker Bus!"
Thanks, Scott, Tantz and Hyp!
The story: I just wanted to play around with the idea of what do webcomic characters do in the time they're not "working" as webcomic characters. One would imagine they "have a life," right? And that they may not be 100% like their characters in the comic. I guess it would be like imagining they're actors. I just couldn't resist the idea of making Tim from Used Books into a nice, likeable guy who's actually an awesome chef. Or of Zoe and David being secretly married and making plans to have a family. Or Deon having a crush on Phira?? lol!
This was an insane amount of work to put together in a few days' time. Very rewarding, though. :)
Okay, responses to comments on the previous page:
blntmaker: I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'm almost 1/4 way through Book Four…
usedbooks: Well today you get to see what one of your characters does in his spare time (impress the ladies)! Thanks again for letting me do that.
JustNoPoint: Of course, they're watching Lindsay play "War of Worldcraft!" Btw, I'm trying to imagine Fenny applying for unemployment or auditioning for a role in say, Better Luck Next Time (new teacher?). Can I do that for the next one? ;)
Tantz Aerine: Well, we got to see a little of that in today's page (not legal action, but a bit of attitude and resentment at your "cruelty." heh!). A true delight to plan and implement. Thanks again for letting me do that.
kyupol: Y'know, I never thought about that! You're absolutely right, fantasy comics can be on worlds that don't have a BC or AD, they can create their own calendars/time or it can be a culture that doesn't even use time references. For example from a comic I really like: In Purgatory Tower, noone cares what year it is – none of the characters are human – and it doesn't matter what year or time it is. They're inside a huge tower! :)
Sidwarrious: Have you now?
Brock: You're very welcome. I'm so glad it made your day! I really respect the work you do on The Superfogeys. Keep it up!
TitanOne: Thanks! That was a particularly fun expression to create. Kirk died? You'd never know it for all the books Bill Shatner and the Reeves-Stevens team have written for Kirk in the last 10 years! Ironically, I enjoyed most of those books but it finally started getting tiresome. Even more ironic is the fact that Shatner will probably still be left out of the next Star Trek movie (which I really, *really* hope is at least worth the price of admission).
