Either I got lazy with photoshop on this page, or the portal seems to be fading. BELIEVE THE LATTER!

You know, Keanu…earned my respect with 'The Devil's Advocate', because it was an entertaining film. I even managed to dismiss the fact that he kept slipping out of his southern accent and into the monotonous sound of his every-day voice. But he lost my respect once more with this new shitty remake of 'The Day the Earth Stood Still'. I haven't seen it yet, and don't know if I will. Perhaps I might, just so I can complain about each scene. But even seeing PREVIEWS leaves me with a sense of…disgust.

First off, it is not until the…well, nearly the end when the government gets an inkling of the guy being related to the ship. I saw no mention of a robot killing off troops whenever they approached. Needless to mention the 'subtle' hint that the focus of the film isn't about warfare, but f***ing green living. 'We are destroying the earth with pollution' is a far cry from 'we are killing each other, and becoming a threat to the rest of the universe, and thus must be controlled'. It's bullshit. BULLSHIT!

I'm sorry, I don't even really like the original. But if you do a re-make of a CLASSIC, there are certain elements…such as the point of the entire film…that should be adhered to. Really, it looks like they just used the title of the original movie for publicity. Otherwise, it appears to be completely different…except that there's an alien, and people are scared.

Why do I have the habit of reviewing films when I post my author comments? I should be reviewing my PSing techniques, my script plans, my love for readership. Well I'm sorry, but I have a short attention span, and a great need to let my readers know my opinions of new releases in American cinema.
