#984 Girl's Night Out: The Boss

I have a tendency to dislike things after having them recommended to me by enough people. I think it stems from the fact that, after a certain point, my expectations rise too much, and the work in question will never live up to my expectations. For example, I saw Mirrormask the other day, which came highly recommended by most people I know. Add the fact that it was written by Neil Gaiman, and you can expect something awesome. But, either because it was legitimately boring or because I was expecting more, I was thoroughly underwhelmed by the whole experience.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, my awareness of my situation can essentially cancel out the expectation process. I've heard so much good stuff about Firefly/Serenity, that I assumed I would hate it if I ever saw it, thus levelling out my expectations, and allowing me to enjoy the show like a normal person. Shame it got cancelled, but I'm glad I got the chance to see it.

Oh, and it seems webcomicslist is pretty boned. Still, since it's so late in the month I suppose it can't hurt to try and wait it out a bit longer; I doubt I'd make much progress in 5 days on one of the other lists.
