I still don't know what the devil wants with souls. I've shown in the comics that they can be used as something of a source of energy (be if food or fuel for magic), but I'm not sure if that theory holds any water outside of the comic. My longest-running theory has been that Satan does it just to spite God.

I also wonder how the system works in the afterlife. A lot of stuff in the media implies that the two sides work together somehow; in that St. Peter has a lever of some sort that drops people into Hell if they're bad. Personally, I don't buy that sort of thing. If anything, I'd believe that Hell basically lives off of table scraps; souls that God doesn't want. If a soul doesn't get into Heaven, God just leaves it be and it's Hell's job to actually go pick it up.
