#1122 Desire: Who We Are

In a cynical way, I believe that everyone lives for only themselves. People don't have a job because they want one; they have a job because they want money. Well, that's not true; people want things. Cars to let them get to other places faster, food to eat, clothes to wear, etc., and they can only get those things if they give money for them. Even selfless things, like donating money, isn't done to make the world better, but to make oneself feel better about oneself. Maybe there's a sense of pride in doing a good deed, or maybe it's just a way of easing the guilt of whatever else one has done with one's life.

But really, my thoughts on this sort of thing vary depending on what kind of day I've had.
