I'm not sure if you've noticed or not, but I've been making a point of doing more with my backgrounds so far in this story arc (well, aside from today). I feel that my weakest art element right now is backgrounds, and I know that just getting used to doing them will really improve the series as a whole, if only in subtle ways.

Has anyone here ever watched an episode of Mystery Science Theater and thought, "Damn, that would be a sweet story if every other aspect of it didn't suck." I get that feeling constantly, and I'm always wondering why people out there are always remaking movies that were already awesome to begin with, instead of "fixing" some good ideas that just went awry somewhere down the line.

This came to mind when I was watching the immortal "Manos: The Hands of Fate" (often derided as the worst movie of all time). The basic premise and a few key scenes were honstly creepy, and some of the ideas, while not exactly original, at least make sense in a good narrative. I don't think you could get a good full length movie out of it, but if you got some real actors and some semblance of a budget you could probably make a Twilight Zone-esque short out of it.
