So, I saw Grindhouse the other day, and I have to say I was really happy with it. Now, the name itself should tell you that it's not going to be a "deep" or "meaningful" movie. The idea is basically all about fun, and it is. It's billed as 2 movies, but in a weird way it's practically three movies. The first movie, Terror Planet, is basically a super grossout zombie flick. It's got crazy action and some good scares, but if you're averse to oozing pus and extremely graphic gore, this isn't really the thing for you. The second movie, Death Proof, is a bit tamer, though has a lot more atmosphere. The weird thing about it is that it's made up of two distinct stories that could more or less stand on their own. The second half even has you wondering all the way to the end whether or not it occurs before or after the first half (it is a Tarantino film, after all).

Personally, though, my favorite aspect was the fake trailers. They were all pretty cool, and funny in a weird sort of way, but the best one was, by far, Machete. I remember leaving the theater wishing that it was a real movie and, as if to answer my prayer, it will be. Thank you, Robert Rodriguez!
