I saw a video of some narwhal on the BBC website the other day, and I really wanted to draw one. Apparently they perform an activity called "tusking". How cool is that? I will tell you: it's quite cool.

Narwhal are a type of whale; they live in the Arctic. They eat fish, skate eggs, squid, shrimp, and occasionally rocks (apparently by accident). There are legends about the tusks (which get up to about 10' long), but I won't repeat them here. Rarely narwhal have two tusks. During the 16th century, Elizabeth I was given one worth approximately 10,000 pounds, or 2.7 million of today's dollars. Also, narwhal were mentioned in Moby Dick.
