I got downsized (along with about 25 other people) yesterday. Not really sure what to do. I don't miss the job, but I am depressed to be looking for jobs again.

Anyone want to hire me?

As Bryan pointed out, Oscar may have meant "gay" to mean "happy" - it didn't really come to mean homosexual until the 1930s (OED lists 1955, but Etymology Online thinks that is too late). The word might have had connotations of prostitution/male homosexuality during Wilde's day, and some amount of immorality is attached to the word dating back to the 1600s. BUT that aside, the joke was too tempting to pass up.
