Issue 3 Page 6

This page marks the return of Herrik the Snake. The last time we saw Herrik was at the end of issue 2. Cole Montaigne had stripped him naked, made fun of his "manhood," and tossed him aside like a rag doll. But now it's payback time! I guess Herrik just needed a little time to find his pants, his pride…. and a weapon.

Also, I get asked sometimes about my process in creating Endstone. Actually, many (but not all) of the characters are based on people I know. Sometimes it's a look and sometimes it's a personality, but often I use my friends as "springboards" for character creation. Mind you, the characters aren't exact likeness, but I try to catch an essence or trait of the subject to transfer to the character. It really helps in the writing process knowing how characters will react in certain situations. This is especially true for the supporting cast or "static" characters.

In fact, Herrik the Snake is based both in look and personality on a very good friend I've known since I was a kid… James Page. James is better known in and around Long Beach California as blues legend Whiteboy James. James has led a storied life, and if you're ever in Southern California, especially in the Long Beach area, check him out:

Whiteboy James and the Blues Express

I'll be back next week with the final page before I have to take a forced hiatus due to my broken arm.

Responses from last week's comments:

plymar , Doctor Shadow ,theends ,and Peipei - Thanks again folks. As always appreciate your comments.
Andaren - Thanks. And Jon may have a plan.
Ironscarf - Thanks. Maybe the image might make a good T-shirt design too. My mind is shifting into that mode with the coming "store thing" happening.
harryq - Yes, Cole might be insane and evil, but she is always polite.
thefightingstranger - Kyri's plan may have went south, but I'm sure she has another on stand by.
I am Candyman , armandoB , Zephyrion - Thanks for stopping by folks.
amanda - Yes Jon is an ulta-mega-putz, but next issue will delve into his psyche and what motivates him to do what he does.
cyberdog - You're right. Someone should teach Cole a lesson. I hope it's Herrik. But he'll have to use his rod and not a fist. ;)
istraerlus , seanb47 ,AzuJOD ,SoItBegins - Thanks again for your continued support.
machinehead - Chick fights were one of the reasons I decided to create Endstone.
Juvenile Jay - It does suck. And before this is over the entire family is going to be laying down the smack on each other. I can't wait to draw it.
khard12 - Thanks. Usually the blacked out figures are the easiest to do, but this one took me several different versions before it looked somewhat right. I keep losing the figure in all that hair!
Lemniskate - That's a great question, Lem. I think Jon might have saw Herrik coming since he was the only one facing that way. Also, Jon has very clear reasons for what he's doing and that's the topic of the next issue, actually.
The Gravekeeper , Crimsonskystudio, Brogan - Thanks ever so much. I appreciate you stoppin' by.

See you next week and keep on keepin' on
