If you're wondering why this page is so dark, block out all light except for your monitor tonight. Pretty dark, right?
Yesterday I picked up a combo book featuring 'Red Dragon' and 'Silence of the Lambs' by Thomas Harris. Those of you unaware, those are the Hannibal Lecter stories (There are more in the series, so I'll have to wikipedia to find out what they are) and I got to thinking 'How many pscho-thriller writers can actually relate to their insane characters?'
I think the best writers for those sorts of novels would be abuse victims, be it bullying, watching your dad beat your mum, whatever. Just something traumatising. That way, you could see the psycho from a different point of view from anyone else. You could get in their heads. At some level, you'd know why they did what they did.
In closing, I wish I didn't stay up all night trying to finish Silence of the Lambs because now all I can think about is Dr. Lector sitting in my computer chair and then getting ready to feast on my meatless corpse. (Every one else in my family is bigger than me, so I think I'll have the smallest chance of being one of his victims).
