considering the lack of, well anything, one can usually see a city from very far off. Of course, cities are few and far between as defending against sporid requires resources that smaller settlements wouldn't be able to maintain. Vira, Amine, and Minoli come from one the larger cities as it was built as one giant building which is easier to defend and build upward as outer defensive walls set a limit to how far a city can expand.
