Here's page 29 of Fusion #4, and we get a brief explanation of how X-Pletive's powers work. In addition to the powers mentioned here, he also has incredibly dense bones (which are nearly impossible to break and have been known to deflect bullets). His superstrength is actually from a "superadrenaline" his body produces under conditions of anger/excitement.
