FIGHT Chapter 20 page 7b

I've given up on creating consistent light sources in my comic art. I guess that makes my art less realistic. The pages I draw can never exist in real life. I remember watching a Jim Lee video, where he tells the crowd that sometimes you exaggerate a pose to create emphasis and then he goes and draw a batman with a horrible looking long leg. Then I bought an avengers comic featuring old Jack Kirby art where he just draws a silhouette to show the leg is behind a character. It finally clicked in my head. I shouldn't be bothered to draw consistent light sources, because my job as the artist is to create clarity. If I have to break rules to do this, then Jim Lee and Jack Kirby says it's ok to do so. :P
