The way I pictured how Abbot's robot parts were built, is with using the same parts that computers in the 80s and 90s were built with, so on the low end those mc68000 chip based computers, commodores and amigas to ibm's 286s. My family used to have a kaypro ibm clone as a kid, complete with green screen monitor. Yay to 5.25 inch floppy disks, when they were still physically floppy!

So compared to today's computers these machines were painfully slow and weighed tons. Only super nerds could use them to it's full potential. Back then I was only interested in cartoons, so I could only turn the machine on and play video games on our computer. Thank God my brothers were smart, or had smart friends, or else that kaypro would have been a paper weight.

So long story short. Abbot's interface is a kind of play on how programmers back in the day were more functional than user friendly. It's a bit unrealistic given the technology back then couldn't support voice recognition. I imagine that whoever built the robot parts and OS were ahead of their time, and could build futuristic crap out of 80s/90s rudimentary technology.

Anyway if we were 100% faithful to the technology in which these characters were created, it'd be pretty limiting, and probably take focus away from the story. In the end the technology is ahead of it's time, but references a bunch of old tech that only old timer nerds like me get. :)
