To round out F1's main team, we needed a woman. I wanted something ridiculous, to go with the rag-tag theme of the team; a catgirl seemed perfect for the job.

I was seriously considering Cheetara from Thundercats, because I wanted to avoid characters from Japan (yes I know Thundercats were animated in Japan). But Cheetara was too serious, and her leotard looked stupid to me. If I had remembered about that new female Thundercat character (Pumyra), I might have used her.

I finally gave up on the Thundercats and went with Felicia. Her design knocked the tail off of any other catgirl I knew of. The funny thing about her design is that she's the most un-catlike of any catgirl I've seen. Most "serious" catgirl designs try to look like cats. Felicia looks like a stripper with fake cat ears, fake strips of fur, and fake claw stockings. I wanted ridiculous, and she was perfect.

At the time, Darkstalkers was the neglected middle child of Capcom's franchises, so using her seemed okay. In hindsight, using Felicia was a good idea. She served as the catalyst for much-needed sex appeal and levity.
