Some characters lend themselves well to crossovers. Mindmistress does very well with that sort of thing, for instance. Some do not. About halfway through this story, I found Flickerflame did not. I finished it, but it was a chore. Sometimes you have experiments, and one thing you have to remember, experiments sometimes…fail. Promise. Never, ever again will there be a Flickerflame story heavily into parallel worlds and crossovers. The Next Level has enough characters to play around with. Lafferty tangling with anyone else…sort of misses the point. Lafferty will be keeping his butt home from now on. Still…he wouldn't go through all this without getting something out of this. Hence, he has potential allies… …Which he'll never call on, for fear of reprisals against his family and himself.
