Took me a while to do that third picure. I tried various ways to make the paintings look more like paintings, but each of them seemed to make them just appear blurrier, so I finally said the heck with it. The idea is that the former "incarnation" of Ashton Soul supposedly dies—lost at sea, killed in an accident, whatever…and a new heir pops up, someplace far away, often in another country. The Raven corporation has offices all over the world, so it doesn't take much to make the corporate headquarters shift. I was figuring it out the other night, and Soul appears to have been in America from 1835 to 1865, and then Britain from 1865 to 1895, and this century in America from 1955 to 1985 (maybe staying through January 1986 in this case.) I'm not sure where he was from 1895 through 1955, which is two thirty-year blocks. Probably someplace they speak English…Candada? Jamaica? Colonial India? Scotland? Ireland? Austrailia? I doubt if he would have reappeared in America or England that soon. OTOH, he could easily have posed as an Englishman in a non-English counry, like France or Germany… Heidi Gulliver was looking for an easy target to blackmail.
