Faelings

Fire Dance
Myari onThe fire faelings do this fire dance at night in a cave with walls resembling bare trees. They don't bother wearing clothes because as things heat up, the fabric would all get burned up anyway. But they do wear a lot of gold, which is considered closely related to fire.
They dance around the fire madly for a while, and eventually their fire magic intensifies and joins up, and they have a hippie-like moment of togetherness. This picture shows the middle of the dance, with one faeling leaving early and another coming in late.
The fire faelings need ceremonies like this because they have a hard time being accepted by the other faelings, since they sometimes accidentally burn up things the other faelings work so hard to protect.
There were a lot of art-related challenges in this picture, things I'd never tried before, like the firelight on the rocks, the long shadows, all those dancing figures. I almost did the rocks brown to match the warm colors of everything else, but all the rocks so far in faelingland are grey, so I stuck with that instead.
