It's a bit strange because Aude was screaming a few pages ago and now she's acting like this is no big deal. Actually she wasn't completely panicked before, it felt like a dream and she was fairly confident that the hallucinations would go away if she did something about it. Right now she's actually starting to get scared, and she's putting on a tough front as a way of comforting herself, in the same way that you would bravely turn on your light to start searching your room for monsters while rolling your eyes and forcing a chuckle. It's really hard to get all this to come through in the drawing. I thought about showing that she is shivering, but I decided it was too soon.
Another detail I couldn't show was that the room is eerily quiet and even echoes a bit. The scenes are always animated when I see them in my head, and they always have sound…(hence the occasional mp3 loop on the main site, though I do try to avoid because I know sound on websites can be annoying). If this whole scene did have sound, the floor would creak once her foot reaches the ground, and in a few moments Aude would jump from the sound of an owl in the distance.
Do you like the crosshatch shading on this page? I always thought it made pictures look dramatic. It is so boring to draw, though. Your mind drifts and you just lose track of what you were doing after a while. I really admire the people who do entire poster-size images like this… my brain would probably shut down.
The original picture is 81/2" x 11", paler, has no text, and I am selling it for 30$.
