Initially, Chaerius explained it as "he's too far away or he lost his concentration." But I worried that would confuse people. Aion doesn't have to concentrate on the spell in the way people normally think of the word. He can do other things and think on other things while maintaining it. It's better to envision that the spell is like a rope he's holding onto. He really doesn't have to think about it, but if he's startled enough to drop the rope, the spell's over.
…honestly, it's LIKELY because he's a good distance away, but I just wanted to explain that.

Katyn's standing on sheer stubbornness alone at this point XD …but that's how she does a lot of things, isn't it?
