Surely following him will be a good idea!
Just as a note, the watch she gave him is not intended to be a Chekov's gun. I have no greater plans for it beyond this point, I just threw it in as a way to explain how she was able to follow him from the ground. I may have it keep it, it's pretty useful, but it's not intended to be a larger plot point.
