Hah, bet you guys didn't think much of Jay's ramblings! All two of you! But yes, Jay did 'slip up'…
The background in the first panel is completely tablet drawn.

Re Mina_lunga: Yes, I am rather attached to using it now. I've been blaming my inexperience for my longer hours with the tablet, but that's just a lie. I feel like I can do so many more things now!

Bingo; another 10 points to Mina_Lunga! And Liam needs to be sneaky, because he isn't that lucky…

Re Peipei: Thanks!

Re JillyFoo:
Thank you. I like shadows, they're some of my favorite things to work with, though I'm usually very conservative when using very dark shadows.

Re Eternal_Gwen:
yep, a dragon in a suit of armor. Strange… ^_^

Thank you for your dedicated reading. Your comments really mean a lot to me. And… uh… good-morning?

Re mina_lunga: Ack, spelling… I'll have to fix that.

I was thinking of doing a close-up of her face, but the problem is I like doing those so I try to limit how many close-up shots I do to add variation. But I think I'm going to x the 'special' backgrounds from now on because they are distracting and I'm not using them in the best way…

I'm glad you noticed the shawl because I liked that part as well, though I was sad I that I had to put the speech bubble over it. And yes, I'll admit I got lazy with the books and I wasn't paying much attention to the shelves.

    "thief"

I know you were going for the "sudden bolt of surprise" look in that middle panel, but I think if you had put more focus on just Liam's mother's expression and made her take up more of the panel you could have included background without it detracting. As it is I find the crinkly/splotchy background actually takes away from her shock.

The textured pattern that you put into her shawl in the last panel is particularly pretty, and I'm glad you put some texture into the library's walls as well (to keep it from being totally flat). The angles on the bookshelves look as though they are sinking into the floor, though, and the books are kinda "mushy" appearing.
