April Almaye Model Sheet

Here's the first in the series of character model-sheets. I'll be posting these in case someone wants to draw her or learn a bit from how I draw the characters. I personally love looking at model sheets, I dunno if you guys do or not.

A trick to making recognizable characters is to give them a formulaic design so they can be picked out. If a character's look changes each time you draw them, even subtly, you might confuse your readers, especially if you have two similar characters. Don't just rely on hair, though, the face and build can help as well.

April is the only design I can truly claim was spawned by itself, as the other main characters have heavy influences from elsewhere. She's based a bit on what I find appealing in a woman (Yeah, I have a weakness for the tiny ones!)

April's facial features are the widest, roundest, and most innocent, meaning they're begging to be distorted, something I haven't taken advantage of recently but terribly need to. April is the only main character who I consider fairly girly, as Sanny and Nosh are CLEARLY tomboys in their own sense. She can be more candid than her mother sometimes, which is something she got from her dad (Who admitted to April at age 9 that he was drawn to her mother due to her boobs). While not terribly gifted in more than looks, April does have a spectacular sense of direction and has never gotten lost.

I'll probably toss in an expression sheet in a bit.
