Issue 16: Friends Like These (Cover)

I have to admit, I am really, really excited to be sharing this new comic with you. Over the last few months, I feel like I have taken some positive steps towards making this into a decent looking book. It comes from asking yourself, "What kind of comic would I want to read" and making Found Art more like that. I have read some great, great comics recently. Specifically, the four issue Hotwire miniseries, the first six issues of The Sixth Gun, and George Perez's run on Wonder Woman from the 80s. Got me back in touch of what I liked about the medium in the first place. I am dropping the sketch look in favor of… I don't know what to call it… but it's like on the cover here. Simpler use of line. You have to admire how Perez used to draw a face with an expression, then have a background made up of a few colored boxes and a line or two. And how he could put 16 panels on a page without it being cluttered. I upgraded all of my software. Actually spent a chunk of money on new assets (so I can't accurately call this series "Found Art" anymore… though The Duck won't let me change the title of the book). The biggest change will be to the look of some of the characters. I am evolving away from the manga look I started with. Most significant will be Max's face. He always looked kind of weird to me… I guess mainly because I didn't know how to model very well when I created him. He's going to look a bit more realistic now… a bit more like how I saw him in my head when I first created the character, though I didn't have the skill to pull it off then.
Some good news for the fans: while this issue took a lot of time to put together, I actually did most of it several months ago, anticipating a very busy July through September period. So, updates will be coming about every other day instead of every three days.
More good news: for those of you who wanted it–you know who you are–this issue will feature Found Art's first nude scene! Don't worry. It will be tasteful. Or maybe that will be a drawback.
