Funny story: panel two has never been right in terms of word balloons. I have no idea what mental blinders keep my from telling letterers that Virginia’s “Mommy!” (Ginny is Colleen’s step-daughter) is supposed to be coming from the bottom of the panel, not her bedroom. Ah well. Maybe in the third edition I’ll get it right.
Also, Ginny’s “It’s Uncle Matt!” was originally “It’s Aunt Matt!” which I changed because it was not only a terrible rip-off of Mrs. Doubtfire but also a reflection of my own perverse desire to get my nephew to call me “Aunt Sean” (too on-the-nose).
