The "joven, disculpa" the employee of the funeral home says translates roughly to "excuse, young man." "Joven" in Spanish means "young", in context, whenever someone is called young it's not really gendered.
When Cheryl died in chapter 11, a lot of people were surprised that Fred didn't react react angrily. The overwhelming majority still really liked the more subdued, subtle reaction and saw it as more realistic compared to the usual super hero thingy with the big "NNNOOOOO" kind of thing lol Which is why I guess Fred being more angry and bitter in the book 2 prologue worked really well.
