This page is pretty much the recap of chapters 20-22, when Fred fell under "emotional chaos" when he saw Jane unconscious on the ground, after being hit in the head by a police officer during a student protest at their college.
Fred lost it and went berserk, even fighting against Exorcist and strangling Rocker! It was an internal struggle that Fred won thanks to Cheryl's memories and Rockers voice pulling him back out.
Actually, this storyline was supposed to be about 4-5 chapters long with a lot more stuff happening, but it took almost SEVEN YEARS to finish this arc due to a lot of things (medical issues and a big move), so if it ever felt kind of shortish or ended kind of abruptly, it had been like 7 years already, so I just wanted to end it at a point where the ending wouldn't feel too awkward. Sorry!
