The large thing in the foreground is a space elevator, a giant tower that goes all the way up to geostationary orbit, which is what allows it to get so tall. These elevators are sort of like a railroad into space, allowing (relatively) cheap trips to orbit. The thing I think is really cool is that scientists and engineers are working on a way to actually build one of these things, so hopefully space travel will be more accessible to common folk like you and I in the near future.

No, the rest of the comic won't be looking like this, since I'm only doing title pages in color.
