Some to know stuff for people who may be reading and don't know the ins and outs of Final Fantasy XIV:
Bentbranch Meadows is a settlement outside of Gridania (which is one of the major cities in the game). You can quest there and whatnot.
Chigoe are fly/mosquito insect monsters that wander the terrain.
Midge Swarms are literally clouds of midges. While in game you can whack them with your weapon and it somehow magically kills them, I decided to take a realistic approach.

In response to this post when I originally made it on the Final Fantasy XIV blog site, another player linked a video to Mr. Miyagi catching flies with chopsticks. In character, I responded as watching it, and in the next post you'll see what came of that.
