Bet you saw that coming.

So yeah, Gary is actually 14. And it's weird that this page goes up on Labor Day, when I'm pretty sure nobody's actually IN school.

I swear, this will likely be the biggest twist in the series. At least, I think it will be. I don't want this to take the same path that Melody & Macabre took. So don't worry, Gary won't end up in a car crash or turn out to be crazy or anything.

Though your opinion may differ on that last one, given that he's an alchemist in the modern world.

What I REALLY want to present with this series is the dichotomy between his personal world (of alchemy and magic and his strange little friend) and the shared world (of school and classes and normal people.)

If you haven't noticed yet, each week presents a different theme to work on. Since it's in semi-real time, we can assume every three strips usually chronicle one day of each week. Unless otherwise noted. Hence why his shirt is a lighter color.

I actually wanted to put something ON his shirt, but I thought… "Nah, screw it, I'll do it later with shirts we can see better."

    Wow. Dangit Manifold Lash, now I'm thinking of doing that at some point. A Melody & Macabre logo would be AWESOMELY meta.

    I figure Gary would have alchemical symbols on his shirts though. Which would present interesting conversations if he had the symbol for Venus (and by association, copper) on his shirt.

    (Then again, there ARE other characters to come…)
