Author notes
This one was directly inspired by George the Dragon . The comic had me envision both a dragon in Loch Ness and the idea of draining the loch . This was the scenario that immediately leaped to mind. – And that's why George is making a cameo appearance today. Okay, kids, the vocabulary word for today is cryptozoology. If you recognize the word roots, you'll know that it is the study of "hidden creatures" (sasquatch, jersey devil, Nessie, etc.). I ponder what happens if a cryptozoologist actually finds the creature he's looking for. At that point, doesn't it cease being hidden? If a cryptozoologist finds these things he's looking for, doesn't that put him out of work? I am working on a novel starring (among others) a disenchanted cryptozoologist on the run from the IRS. (His business deductions were called into question…)
