Author notes
It’s my mother’s birthday this week. She loves the one-panel strips I drew as a kid, so I drew this as a gift for her. (Plus unemployed people like me have to be thrifty. Heh.) There is a true story behind this update, btw. As a biology major, one has to memorize a lot of things. Geologic eras, amino acids, the Krebs cycle, scientific names, etc. – after being retaught a few dozen times, these things find a little corner of the mind to settle and dislodge themselves (though not always when needed). We memorize other things too, songs, recipes, lines from movies, whatever. As for me, I say the Lord’s Prayer every night and have since I learned it twenty years ago. One night in grad school, however, I caught myself reciting this version instead. (I guess those wires in my brain got crossed.) After thinking about it for a moment, I decided it was indeed true and valid. :)
