I had insomnia this week and found out a couple things.
#1. If you put on a big fluffy robe in the dark on a dry winter night, you can see sparks fly off it. Awesome.
#2. This is the sort of comic ideas I get at four AM.
I consider Dr. Seuss one of the greatest satirists of all times, so I dub this a tribute to him. The Lorax might have been the first movie to have a profound effect on me and my interests in biology as a young child. Bright colors, wildlife, empathy, and a pretty dark ending. My mom (who was also my 10th grade science teacher) showed the movie to every class she taught.
Btw, a biologist is usually consulted during land development projects to determine what the environmental impact will be. If necessary, plans are altered or other provisions made to reduce any effects on environmental (and often human) health. In grad school (in a class called "Soil Conservation"), I learned about this process and the various reports and forms used for them in detail. It made me think of The Lorax. I don't think I'd ever want that job myself though.
EDIT/UPDATE:
I might not have a strip up for a week or two. Next week, I'm going out of town to visit JNP and won't be back until the 17th or 18th. And today, I got a phone call for a job interview in WV, so I'll be making a trip later this week for that (it's a seven hour drive from here, so I'll have to spend a night away).
If I can get a strip together for next week, I will. If not, well, I won't. Heh. As much as I love doing this, I'm afraid my priority is removing myself from unemployment so I can pay for internet service – so I can continue to do this in the future. ;)
