Last Tuesday, I woke up suddenly pain-free. So, in honor of finally being rid of my annoying medical issue (Nephrolithiasis – a new vocab word! XD), I bring you a topical medicine/geology strip.

I learned a few new things in the last couple weeks. There are several types of kidney stones. Most are calcium oxalate or calcium phosphate. But there are some less common kinds as well. Interestingly, it is a low calcium diet that increases the risk of stones, not a high calcium one as many believe. Uric acid stones might also result from diet, specifically a high protein diet – specifically the diet my mom's doctor put her on. (She's doing fantastic on her diet, btw. However, I have learned another downside of living with one's parents. ^_^; )

Anyway, all that has passed, and I've altered my diet to my own needs once again. One man's meat is another man's poison.

Btw, I'm really moved by the feature and the show of support. Thanks for reading, both new readers and my long-time ones. It really surprised me last week. There are so many amazing comics on DD. I'm really humbled and honored by the recognition.

And, speaking of amazing DD comics, make sure you fill out a ballot for the DD Awards and show support for all your favorites.
